Day 13 - Praying Over Our Temptations

DAY 13 - PRAYING OVER OUR TEMPTATIONS

apple-apple-II

Sovereign Lord,

We ask that You would help us to be watchful against any temptations that come our way, knowing that our spirits are often willing to resist, but our flesh can be so weak.  (Matthew 26:41)   Protect and deliver us from temptations, in particular those strongholds and addictions which cause destruction of our lives and separation from You.  (Matthew 6:13)

Teach us to hate what is evil and cling to what is good. (Romans 12:9)  Help us to know Your truth so that we will be repulsed by tempting situations and see them for the lies that they really are.  May we be self-controlled and alert to the ways Satan tries to bring us down.  (1 Thessalonians 5:8)  May we be mindful that Satan, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour and destroy.  (1 Peter 5:8)  Without self-control, that someone could be us!

May we be mindful of the ways You willingly provide for us to get out of tempting situations so that we do not fall.  (1 Corinthians 10:13)  May we have faith that You Lord have infinite ways to deliver us from our temptations.  (2 Peter 2:9)  May we remember that each time we do remove ourselves from temptations, without falling into them, that You will reward us;  for blessed is the man who endures temptation.  He will receive the crown of life.  (James 1:12)

As hard as it may seem, may we consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds, knowing that the testing of our faith develops perseverance.  (James 1:2-4)

Thank You that You have given us Your Spirit to fight our daily battles - a spirit of power, of love and of self-control.  Help us to call on Your Spirit of power - the same power that raised Jesus from the dead - and self-control to overcome our temptations.  (2 Timothy 1:7)  Teach us to daily walk by Your Spirit so that we will not fulfill the desires of our flesh.  For the desires of the flesh are in contrast to the things You desire and cause us to go against Your will.  (Galatians 5:16,17)
