DAY 21 - PRAYING OVER THE MANAGEMENT OF OUR TIME

Dear Lord,

Help us, we pray, to manage our time.  There is so much to do in every single day and we seem to be consumed with busyness.  But You O Lord have set a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.  (Ecclesiastes 3:1)  May we come before You daily to have You order the time for each activity on our to-do list.  As we surrender every item we want to accomplish, we ask that You show us what is urgent, what is worthless, what can wait and what needs to be done in due time.  Teach us to number are days aright that we may gain a heart of wisdom.  (Psalm 91:12)

We thank You for the gift of our time, each day You allow us to live.  Help us to see these days, our time, from a heavenly perspective.  May we be ever appreciative of the present knowing that our days vanish like smoke.  (Psalm 102:3)  Yet in our knowledge of our fleeting time, may we not try to do more in a given time span than You desire.  May we listen for Your guidance trusting that our time is in Your hands.  (Psalm 31:15)

Just as the good shepherd knows when His sheep need to be fed in green pastures, when they need to be led to water, when they need to rest; so may You lead us in each activity of our day.  (Psalm 23:1-4)  Show us when it is time to care for others and when it is time to care for ourselves.  Show us when we need to push harder and when we need to be still.  Show us when we should be working and when it is o.k. to play.

Teach us that our time does not always need to be spent doing.  Often You desire our time to be spent in waiting on You and being still.  (Psalm 37:7)  Help us to fight the thoughts that being still before You is a waste of our time.   The truth is that our time will be used better after we have been still before You.  Your promise is that You will be good to those who seek You and wait quietly for You.  (Lamentations 3:22-26)

Keep us from being people driven by the clock.  May we know that ultimately all time is controlled by You, You set the times and the seasons.  (Daniel 2:21,22)
