Day 23 - Praying over our Relationships

Gracious Lord,

We pray that our lives would be filled with godly relationships.  May we be surrounded by people who will sharpen us as iron sharpens iron.  (Proverbs 27:17)  And may we too help to sharpen others.

We pray that we would choose our friends carefully for the ways of the wicked will surely lead us astray.  (Proverbs 12:26)  Help us to choose those who we befriend and help us to see when we are walking in relationships which are harmful.

Help us to get along with others at all times and to live together with others in unity.  (Psalm 133:1)  Help us to be devoted not only to friends but to siblings and other family members, honoring one another above ourselves.  (Romans 12:10)

May we love others, especially those closest to us, for love comes from You.  Remind us that everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God and that whoever loves God must also love his brother.  (1 John 4:7,21)  May we live in harmony with one another, being sympathetic, compassionate and humble.  May we not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but with blessing so that we too may then inherit a blessing.  (1 Peter 3:8,9)

May we do everything without arguing or complaining.  (Philippians 2:14)  Keep us from engaging in foolish and stupid arguments because they only produce quarrels; instead let us remember to be kind to everyone.  (2 Timothy 2:23,24)

Above all else may we have the love of Christ so that when we are with others we will be patient and kind.  That we will not boast about ourselves, nor be proud.  That we will not be rude nor self-seeking but will look to the good of others.  That we would not be easily angered nor keep a record of wrongs.  Teach us to be merciful to those who drive us crazy for they will know we are Christians by our love.  (1 Corinthians 13)
