Day 4 - Praying To Increase Our Faith

Gracious God,

We ask for faith in You.  We ask for faith to believe that You exist and for faith to believe You are continually at work in our lives.  (Hebrews  11:1-6)  May we remember that our faith comes as a gift from You and is not something we muster on our own.  (1 Corinthians 12:4-11)  We ask that You would continually be increasing our faith.  (Luke 17:5)  May we remember to give You thanks for the way our faith is growing more and more as we seek You.  (2 Thessalonians 1:3,4)

Help us to trust in you daily regardless of whether we can see You at work or not.  Teach us to walk by faith and not by sight.  (2 Corinthians 5:7)  As sure as we are that the sun still shines, even when days are cloudy, may we be completely sure of Your omnipotence, Your omnipresence and Your unfailing love for us when they seem to not be present.    When things seem to completely fall apart and we’ve done all we know  to do, may our hearts say in faith, “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in Him,  (Job 13:15) for Your thoughts and Your ways are different from our own, yet better for us than we can know.”  (Isaiah 55:8,9)

May our lives be blessed each time we choose to believe and act on Your Word, especially when the world tells us we have reason to doubt.  (John 20:26-29)  On those times when we do begin to doubt, remind us to call out to You, “My God, I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”  (Mark 10:23,24)

Help us to believe that You are present when we call to You and that You will listen to us.  (Jeremiah 29:12,13)  Help us to believe that when we approach You, if we ask anything according to Your will, You will grant what we ask.  (1 John 5:14,15)  Help us to believe that You reward us merely for believing, whether our circumstances change or not.

May we have confidence in You, that You are able to guard all that we have entrusted to You for that day.  (2 Timothy 1:12)  Keep our hearts and minds guarded against the many diversions where the world tells us to  put our trust, so that we will put or trust in You alone.  (Psalm 20:7 / Joshua 24:15)
