Day 6 - Praying For Our Health

DAY 6 - PRAYING FOR OUR HEALTH

Heavenly Father,

We pray that we would enjoy good health.  (3 John 1:2)  We ask for Your hand upon us to make every part of our bodies function as they should.  Help us to understand that our bodies are Your temple, the sacred place where You reside, and that we should care for them as such divine vessels.  (1 Corinthians 3:16 / 2 Corinthians 6:16)

We pray that we would have the desire and wisdom to take care of our bodies - to eat healthy foods, to exercise regularly, to get proper sleep and to avoid those things which are damaging to us physically - as we present our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and acceptable to You.  (Romans 12:1)  Help us to remember that caring for our bodies wisely will bring health to our bodies and nourishment to our bones.  (Proverbs  3:3-8)

When we sleep may it be peacefully so that we may wake up rejuvenated and refreshed; for You Oh Lord make us dwell in safety;  (Psalm 4:8)  and You have promised to grant sleep to those You love.  (Psalm 127:2)  When we do become tired and weary, may we cast all our cares on You, for You care for us and You will give us rest.  (1 Peter 5:7 / Matthew 11:28,29)  When we are weak, yet still trusting in You, may we be assured that we will be strong, for Your power is made perfect in our weakness.  (2 Corinthians 12:9,10)

When we are ill, we pray that You would sustain us and heal us.  Fill us with Your strength so that we may say, "O Lord, my God, I cried out to You and You healed me, You forgave all my iniquities and healed all my diseases, You saved me out of my distresses and sent Your word and healed me."  (Psalm 30:1-3 / Psalm 103:1-3 / Psalm 107:17-20)  Thank You Lord, that You are our Healer.  (Exodus 15:26)

Like a computer scanning for a virus, may You search us and know what is in our hearts, our minds, and our bodies.  (Psalm 139:23,24)  Reveal to us Your path of healing, whether it is rest, visiting a doctor, removing stress, making wiser choices, etc., for You are an all-knowing God.
