Day 17 - Praying over our Fears

DAY 17 - PRAYING OVER OUR FEARS

Dear Lord,

We ask You for forgiveness in regard to our fears.  Convict us when we are allowing our imaginations to take over, focusing on worst case scenarios, instead of the good You desire to bring forth.  Remind us that You have promised we have no need to fear.   For you say, “I am the Lord, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, ‘Do not fear; I will help you.’”  (Isaiah 41:13)  In our fears, may we ask You for Your help.

Help us to remember that in this world we should not be surprised when we have trouble which causes fear, for trouble is the nature of this world.  But may we take heart in the fact that You have overcome the world.  (John 16:33)  May we remember that You are our refuge and strength, an ever present help in times of trouble; and that even though the earth gives way and the mountains fall in the seas, we do not have to be afraid.  (Psalm 46:1-3)  Grant us courage so that when fear comes our way we may be strong and take heart and wait on You to deliver.  (Psalm 27:14)

Help us to face the enemies, real or imaginary, that threaten us and cause us to fear.  May we be like soldiers going into battle, not fainthearted or afraid, not terrified or given unto to panic.  May we remember that You God, are the One who goes with us to fight against our enemies to give us victory.  (Deuteronomy 20:3,4)  You are the One who will deliver us from the hand of all our enemies.  (2 Kings 17:38,39)  You are the One who surrounds us with a heavenly army that man can not see.   Open our eyes so we may see that there are more with us than those who are against us.  (2 Kings 6:15-17)

We ask that if our fears come as a result of tyrannical people, we may keep our ground and not be afraid; calmness can lay great errors to rest.  (Ecclesiastes 10:4)  Convict our minds that You are the One who dwells within us, that You are infinitely greater than the one who is in the world, and therefore we have no reason to fear any man.  (1 John 4:4)  After all, what can man do to us, since You are our helper (Hebrews 13:6) and You will make even our enemies live at peace with us, when our ways are pleasing to You.  (Proverbs 16:7)
